Bifold doors are also known as bi-folding doors, folding sliding doors, glass sliding doors and sliding room dividers. In its simplest term, a bifold is a door that slides open while its panels fold up and stack neatly against the wall – like a concertina.
Bifold doors often connect rooms to an outdoor area, such as an entrance to a garden or conservatory, but they can be used for a variety of purposes. Typically, a bifold can have anything between two to seven panels that are connected with hinges and attached to rollers at the top or bottom. This is one of their great attractions – they offer spectacular views to outside. Aluminium frames support large glass panes and offer slim sightlines for an unimpeded view, compared to traditional patio doors.
Benefits of Bi-fold doors include:
- Illusion of extra space and ingress of natural light
- Opening room up to outside
- Impressive functionality and security
- Slim and good looking
- Energy efficient and eco friendly
- Large range of colours
- Add value to a property
